Pesindhen / composer Peni C.R. adds brilliance to a tour of gamelan and wayang in the Netherlands. Peni will sing with a group of Dutch artists united in Gamelan ensemble Widosari, a prominent group of gamelan lovers in the Netherlands, who have been active studying and performing gamelan since 1993. In the wayang performance to celebrate the silver jubileum Gamelan ensemble Widosari will be “commanded” by dalang Joko Susilo and musician Guntur Sulistiyono (kendhang). The musicians combine the gamelan with western instruments like saxophone that will be played by musician Yukari Uekawa from Japan. ‘This performance celebrates the 25th anniversary of Widosari, with partners they worked with since the founding of Widosari, like me. The performance will present wayang and also a contemporary composition for gamelan” – said Peni
